Wichmannsdorf Ost Substation Expansion

Three additional 33-kV bays

Electrical substation with multiple power transformers, high-voltage switchgear and an overhead power line connection via a steel lattice tower for feeding and distributing electrical energy.

The Wichmannsdorf Ost substation, which we completed back in 2024, was expanded just a few weeks ago!

With the recently completed expansion of the switchgear—adding a total of three additional bays at the 33 kV voltage level—the capacity of the existing substation has been further enhanced. The electrical installation was carried out entirely by our own team.

Switchgear expansions are an essential component of scalable grid infrastructure. They make it possible to flexibly adapt existing substations to new requirements, such as additional feed-in from wind or solar power, increasing grid loads, or changes in grid concepts. Instead of building new facilities, an existing grid node is systematically upgraded.

This is precisely where the added value of a holistic approach becomes evident. Even during the construction of the substation in 2024, Wichmannsdorf Ost was designed in such a way that expansions can be implemented in a structured and efficient manner. Planning, primary and secondary systems, and installation all mesh together like gears.

This successful expansion underscores our commitment to viewing substations not as rigid, stand-alone projects, but as scalable, integrated systems that evolve over their entire lifecycle to meet the demands of the energy transition.

Many thanks to our installation team for their precise work and strong commitment on the construction site.
