Together with our partner, Elektrotechnik Oelsnitz/E. GmbH (eto), we have been working for some time on an exciting project: the construction of a complete 380 kV substation.
During this construction phase, we at WT Energiesysteme were responsible for the 30 kV medium-voltage switchgear, the entire telecontrol system, the local control station, and the internal communications system. In addition, on behalf of eto, we configured and tested the protection and control devices, with the exception of the main protection system.
With the completion of this first construction phase, the foundation has been laid for the second phase—and thus for our highlight in 2026: WT Energiesysteme is building one of Germany’s first fully digital 110 kV switchgear systems!
All measured values, messages, and commands are transmitted via fiber optics. Both the primary and backup protection systems operate via the process bus. This eliminates the need for extensive cabling between the control panels and the operations building, thereby conserving natural resources and significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
We look forward to continuing this project and helping to shape the future of energy infrastructure.
