Frankenstein West Substation

The Frankenstein West substation in Oederan Frankenstein has been in operation since 9 July 2025.

The grid connection for a 55 MWp solar farm was constructed here over a period of five months. The substation is equipped with a 63 MVA transformer and connects the power generation plant to the 110 kV grid.

Key project details:
• Voltage level: 110 kV / 31.5 kV•
Connection: 55 MWp solar farm•
Transformer: 63 MVA•
Construction period: 5 months

The solar farm will be connected to the substation. The energy generated there will be stepped up from 31.5 kV to 110 kV and made available for feed-in to the public electricity grid.

Frankenstein West thus serves as a prime example of the role that substations play in integrating renewable energy: they provide the technical link between generation plants and the grid, and are therefore a key component of the energy infrastructure.

Implementing a project of this kind requires coordinated planning, technical expertise and a team capable of bringing together the various tasks throughout the project.
