WT Energiesysteme enters the 380 kV Tier

The transition to the 380 kV level is taking shape. A new project combines ultra-high voltage, battery storage, and the expertise gained from over 250 substations.

With the project in Klostermannsfeld, we are constructing our first extra-high-voltage substation, thereby specifically expanding our range of services. The substation will be connected to the transmission grid operated by 50Hertz and combined with a grid-connected, standalone large-scale battery storage system from MOVEON Capital GmbH with a capacity of 500 MVA.

Our entry into the 380 kV level is a logical next step in our development. Building on over 250 completed projects and more than 20 gigawatts of connected capacity, we are applying our experience and standardised processes to the next voltage level.

“With this project, we are demonstrating that we can successfully build on our proven strengths. We combine experience, speed and a high degree of in-house capability, thereby making an active contribution to the energy transition,” explains WT Managing Director Michael Bohnefeld.

“We specifically chose to collaborate with WT Energiesysteme because the company has a proven track record of meeting the highest quality standards on a par with energy suppliers and of delivering durable, robust infrastructure. At the same time, WT impresses with the high availability of the components it uses. The ability to implement complex projects quickly and reliably was particularly crucial for us,” explains Steffen Montag, Managing Director of MOVEON Capital GmbH.

“WT Energiesysteme is one of the few EPC providers on the market whose staff have a proven track record of successfully implementing projects at the extra-high-voltage level. We place our trust in this strength of WT,” emphasises Daniel Egli, Head of Origination at the IKAV Group.

A key factor in our success remains our holistic, one-stop implementation. From planning and approval, through construction and electrical installation, to commissioning and servicing, all stages are seamlessly integrated.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with commissioning planned for late 2028. At the same time, we are further expanding our expertise in the extra-high-voltage sector and, with a new WT site in Rostock, laying the foundations for further projects.
