Workplace Safety: More Than Just Training and Regulations
Safety doesn't end with training. How WT Energiesysteme integrates prevention, training, and health care into everyday work.

Workplace safety doesn't just begin on the construction site, nor does it end with a training session. It is an integral part of our daily work and our corporate culture.
Anyone who works on power plants and overhead lines up to 380 kV takes on a great deal of responsibility every day. That is why we continuously invest in prevention, training, safe work procedures, and health care.
Regular training sessions are an important part of this. During the training on ascending and rescue, new colleagues in particular were able to learn important basics and practice rescue procedures under realistic conditions.
Oliver Schille, Head of the Energy Plant Construction Division, explains:
"We practice (...) climbing and rescue operations in addition to our annual training sessions. This is also for our new colleagues, so they can gain a better understanding of the subject matter (...) and reinforce and review the procedures."
Climbing and rescue operations are just one component of our safety culture. For us, safety also means identifying risks early on, continuously improving working conditions, and protecting our employees’ health in the long term.
That is why our measures go beyond legal requirements. High-quality work clothing and personal protective equipment are just as much a part of this as supplemental safety training for managers, construction supervisors, safety officers, and our installation teams.
Preventive health care is also an important part of our program. Our colleagues in power plant construction and overhead line construction work outdoors in all kinds of weather. In addition to general health checkups that include preventive health counseling, we therefore offer regular skin screenings, vaccination status checks, and ongoing driver safety training.
After all, anyone who is exposed to wind, inclement weather, and intense sunlight on a daily basis needs health protection that goes beyond the legal requirements.
Figures from the construction industry also highlight the importance of consistent prevention. In 2024 alone, 91,813 reportable workplace accidents were recorded. Seventy-eight people lost their lives as a result.

Our management systems are also reviewed on a regular basis. We successfully completed the most recent QEHS audit—covering quality, environment, health, and occupational safety—without any major or minor nonconformities.
However, our greatest success cannot be measured by an audit or a certificate.
Our teams have been working accident-free for many years.
We're proud of that. But what's even more important to us is that each of our colleagues returns home safe and sound at the end of the workday. That's exactly why we invest every day in prevention, training, and safety.
